Make and Believe Magazine.

In the past four weeks I've been involved, but by bit step by step in the creation and the launch of Make and Believe Magazine. A brand new online magazine that explores  culture, fashion and vintage across the UK. This new project is the brainchild of Danielle Christina Timms, a dear friend and the designer of her own label Daniella Christina. The label's name is quite familiar to this blog as she's part of the Designer's Profile Project that I set up at the beginning of the year and I used her retro, feminine designs for my styling work.

But back to the birth and the upcoming launch of the magazine - Yes! We're launching with an event on the 25th! At first I was asked to be the fashion editor of Make and Believe :-) and I accepted it immediately...then after a week or so Danielle had the idea of a launch event that included a fashion show and live music and things got more...challenging. So, for the fashion part of the event, we have put together an incredible group of three talented designers and labels for the fashion show that will showcase their SS 13 collection: Daniella Christina, Masato London and Tramp Boutique.

You all know the three of them, either from this blog, or because you know the Brighton fashion scene. I've already told you about my link with Daniella Christina; Masato London is a label that I've been following for two years now and had the pleasure of seeing on the catwalk last June during Brighton Fashion Week and that you can now find stocked at chicboutiqueco in Hove Tramp Boutique too has been under my radar fro a long time till I had the opportunity to see their carefully selected and edited vintage pieces at Brighton Fashion Week and have the privilege to use their vintage hats for my New Vintage shoot last August.

Last but not least the fashion show and the magazine first issue will have a theme in common, but that's a surprise for now ;-)

Published shoot: Red Theatrics - Coco Magazine issue 4

So happy to have my first fashion editorial picked and published :-)
I styled this editorial back in November, using SS12 garments and originally planned to submitt it to Papercut magazine in December. But submission never go according to plan, I mean if you get picked up fine, otherwise it is worth, like in this case to keep submitting.
So proud of my work and of all the creative team involved, Izras Dixon, the photographer, Polly Mann, make up and hair, Olivia Segal, Assistant, edyta  the model and all the designers that gave me the opportunity to use their gorgeous creations. You can check the whole editorial here or have a look below.

KM3D-1 AltaRomaAltaModa 9July 2011

In one of the most classical, elegant, historycal and cool (also for the air con) Roman moneuments, Adrian's Temple, the AltaRoma fashion crowd had the opportunity to experience the 3D short film/fashion project, starring Kate Moss, and created by AnOther Magazine with the artist/filmaker Baillie Walsh.

Went there by myself but soon met Romina Toscano and we experienced the film together. Waiting outside the black box where the 3D installation is placed, we were quite frighten by screams and loud noises that came from the soundtrack, just like an horror film. So we went in and watched the film arm in arm dreading for the moment of the screams. ;-) It was all fine though, as you will see form the video below.
I uploaded both a version from AnOther Magazine site and the video I did, placing the 3D glasses in form of the camera ;-)

A.I.Gallery - A.I. Fair - La Moda e l'Arte ad AltaRoma Part 1

AI

The AltaRoma FW2012 edition posts continue and we discover in this one the follow up to the A.I. project that was launched last season. The A.I. acronym stands for Artisanal Intelligence and back in Febraury I briefly presented the project and their magazine. This time the two brains behind A.I. ,Clara Pamphili and Alessio de'Navasques ,expanded the concept of craftmanship in fashion and organised two events that link fashion, art and business, in breath taking locations of Rome.
We're talking about A.I. Galley and A.I. Fair

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this post I'l tell you about A.I.Gallery
As the name suggests, A.I. Gallery, will see the fashion designer's clothes and accessories hosted for just a few days in art galleries in the evocative Roman Jewish Quarter. The craftmanship of designers and artists are both phisicly and ideally set next to each other. It is never too much to stress how time consuming fashion design is.

Gallery.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below, the event poster with the designer's names and the art galleries addresses + a map.

Luigi Borbone FW 2012. Alta Moda Roma luglio 8 luglio2011 -

Preview of  FW 2012 ad campaign.

AltaRoma AltaModa is kicking off in few days with pre-opening events on July the 7th. As well as the events I told you about in my previous post, just yesterday (what a day!) I've been invited to attend the presentation of Luigi Borbone FW 2012 collection on July the 8th :-)
To be honest I've neverd heard of this young roman designer before ( gosh there are still so many things I don't know!) but as soon as I saw some of his past creations I got a feeling that deep down there is a bit of fashion going on in Rome!

There's another bit of exciting news as the collection will be shown in the magnificent 1626 aristocratic Palazzo Ferrajoli , in the heart of Rome!
WOW! I can't wait to be there in such a luxurious and historical place - Napoleon's I cousin and France ambassador, cardinal Giuseppe Fesch lived there.

All of these though, it's been possible thanks to my Facebook contact Romina Toscano, EIC of the fashion magazine DModa, who invited me through the designer's press agent ;-)
So I'll also have the opportunity to meet her face to face after nerly a year of messaging and commenting on FB 8-)

Hugs, hugs

Un abbraccio

Riccardo Tisci Visionaire!

That's a really long maantilla but...it does work, MY GOD!!!
This Christina Ricci pic is in the lastest issue of Visionare - the Religion issue, and it's amazing. Riccardo Tisci was guest editor and the choice not to focus on fashion has been...EXCELLENT!
Sometimes being fashionable glamourous and chic doesnt mean wering designer clothes but create a mood.

Talking about mantillas I istantly though about ADR, Anna Dello Russo, who , not long ago did a shooting for EL PAIS, wearing mantillas, but with a really different mood ;-)

Fashion on Paper. Less is more creative. Another fashion Dan!

EN:
Adrian's Temple, 29th January 2011 at 5.30pm. A young, stundenty, alternative fashion crowd gathered in the square and then attended the third edition of Fashion of Paper: a series of events and talks about the role of fashion media (old and new - on paper and digital). The talk of the day was on how with very little means and money fashion and art can be communicated through innovative, experimental ways and how you are pushed to be creative in such a condition.
I was there too (with my best friend Valentina), curious to see how the temple got, once again, transformed for the occasion and , let's be honest, to check out what kind of people where there.
The end result was really good. In the middle there was a stage with seven chairs, different from each other, for the talk and around it the space was organised in sections, labelled by neoen signs where every magazine/blog had its dedicated area on a wooden platform with the name on it.
Most of the magazines were there to be taken for free. Among them there was A.I. (Artisanal Intelligence), the brand new AltaModa semestral magazine (it weights a ton!). I managed to snap up only three magazines as they were soooo heavy.
Up the stairs you could refresh yourself with a complimentary choice of soft drink by Arabeschi di Latte _I had the Love me Love me not (Sanbittèr&daisy). The people were refreshingly trendy, young and friendly and I think I spotted Diane Pernet! (took pictures of her, tell me if you think it's her, I do!). Here are the people involved in the talk moderated by Angelo Flaccavento: AA Bronson, Fabrizio Ferrini  - The End Magazine – Ismini Adami, Dapper Dan (another fashion Dan!!), Sergei Sviatchenko e Maixut Alvarez Pardo.

IT:

, Sergei Sviatchenko e Maixut Alvarez Pardo.

(read the manifesto and the about sections!!)

My magazine haul!
Il mio bottino di magazine!

Is it Diane?
