Spring Inspiration. SS16 Couture Edition

[EN] Spring is back - at least on the calendar her in the UK, as it's still a bit chilly - and with it a long season of weddings, first communions, confirmations, proms and holidays. Rather than flick through the SS16 trend reports, I believe that often is better to look above us for some style guidance rather than around; I'm referring to couture looks that can plant in your mind the seed of inspiration that you need when shopping around for occasion wear. After the silly Easter Fashion Fun post, here some serious visual references from the SS16 couture show.

The selection of the looks was harder than I though as I was determined to stay away from the obvious botanical/flowery prints and embroidery that you automatically link with spring. Despite my efforts some of them made the cut, as they were too beautiful not to be included. In no particular order:

[IT] La primavera e' tornata - almeno sul calendario che qui in Inghilterra fa ancora freddino - e porta con se' una lunga stagione di matrimoni, prime comunioni, cresime, feste di fine anno e vacanze. Piuttosto che sfogliare i report SS16, ritengo che spesso sia meglio guardare un po' piu' su del nostro naso per avere delle dritte di stile: mi riferisco ai look di alta moda che posso piantare il seme dell'ispiraizone di cui si ha bisogna qualora si deve fare shopping per un evento importante. Dopo il post frivolo Easter fashion Fun, ecco dei riferimenti seri dalle sfilate couture SS16.

La selzione e' stata piu' ardua di quanto pensassi pocihe' avevo deciso di tenermi lontano dagli ovvi ricami e stampe floreali che automaticamente si associano alla primavera. Nono stante i miei sforzi pero' alcuni hanno passato il vaglio, visto che sono troppo belli per essere ignorati. In ordine sparso:

Descritto come il ''colore gentile, compassionevole e calmo del tramonto, delle guance rosee o dei fiori'' da Pantone, il Rose Quartz, accoppiato al Serenity Blue, detta le tendenze della stagione SS16 e ci indica cosa comprare e indossare. Siamo ormai alla fine della maratona mensile della Fashion Week FW16 e' finalmente arrivato il momento di scegliere i capi della stagione che verra'. Guccify Yourself.

Following up from my post about the Liberty's print shirts and their 'print and printability' allure, a prediction post about the wave of '70, Gucci-like looks and accessories that I think will be invading the shops soon. Away from the dreamy and beautiful adv shots by Glen Lutchford that have just dropped online, the Gucci esthetic will be translated in wearable but hip pieces by the fast fashion giants, even if , to my shock, at the moment, there's not much around. I'm sure that Zara&C. will catch up soon though. Floral shirts and piped polo shirts are at the core of the Guccification of the SS16 buys, as well as velvet, velour, botanic and cute animal prints. Last but not least I bet that the Guccifying effect will carry on the AW16 shows that will kick off in the next few days.

A seguto del post sulle camicie a stampa Liberty e della loro 'stampa e stampabilita'', un post-predizione sull'ondata di look e accessori anni'70 stile Gucci che invaderanno i negozi molto presto. diversamente dai magnifici e sognanti scatti dell'adv SS 16 di Glen Lutchford da poco online, l'estetica Gucci sara' trasformata in capi vestibili ma cool dai giganti del fast fashion, anche se, con mio stupore, per ora, non c'e' molto in giro. Sono sicuro che Zara&C. rimederianno presto. Camicie floreali e polo a contrasto sono alla base della Guccificazione degli acquisti SS16, cosi' come velluto, velour, stampe botaniche e di animali esotici. Infine scommetto che l'effetto Guccificante continuera' sulle passerelle AW16 che vedremo tra pochi giorni.

Print and Printability.Liberty's Shirts

If sale shopping is not for you and you're already thinking about the next season looks, purchases and trends, have a good start, if you're a man or buying for a man, with some of the best flower printed shirts. 'Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking!'  I have to disappoint all the Miranda Priestly out there, in this case, as the floral prints I'm talking about are Libertys not only made from the best quality cotton but above all using Liberty's archive prints. Some of them go back to the '20 when Liberty's started printing its own fabric and the wearability of each print is just perfect as the patterns are detailed but small, colourful but polished, making their printability the best around. Last but not least the price is highly affordable for a high quality shirt  that's seasonless and carries with it a piece of fashion history.

Se lo shopping durante i saldi non fa per voi e state gia' pensando ai look, gli acquisti e i trend della prossima stagione, cominmciate come si deve, se siete un uomo o state comprando per un uomo, con alcune delle migliori camicie a stampa floreale. 'Floreale? Per la primavera? Avanguardia pura.' Devo dissentire con tutte le Miranda Priestly li' fuori, in questo caso, visto che le stampe di cui sto parndo sono quelle di Liberty, non solo fatte con cotton di alta qualita' ma sopratutto con le stampe dell'archivio Liberty. Alcune risalgono agli anni '20 quando Liberty comincio' a stampare i propri tessuti e la vestibilita' di ogni stampa e' perfetta poiche' le fantasie sono dettagliate ma piccole, colorate ma discrete, rendendo la loro stampabilita' la milgiore che si possa trovare. Infine i prezzi sono contenuti per una camicia di alta qualita' che trascende le stagioni e porta con se un pezzo dei storia della moda.

LFW New Designers: Faustine Steinmetz

Faustine Steinmetz completes the triad of new emerging designers that I picked up on the latest LFW season, together with Danielle Romeril and Molly Goddard, with whom she's just been nominated for the upcoming British Fashion Awards as Emerging Womenswear Designer.

What makes Steinmetz stand out from her fellow new designers is her unique take on garments production and crystal clear vision of what her brand stands for.
Her focus is on creating mass produced garments using hand-craft techniques, craftsmanship wins over trends and every process is manual: hand-weaving, hand-dying, hand-knitting, hand-embroidery, hand-painting.

Faustine Steinmetz completa la triade dei designer emergenti che ho adocchiato durante l'ultima edizione della LFW, assieme a Danielle Romeril e Molly Goddard, con la quale condivide la nomination ai prossimi British Fashion Awards nella categoria Emerging Womenswear Designer.
Cio' che distingue la Steinmetz dagli altri giovani stilisti e' l'unicita' del suo approccio alla produzione dei capi e una visione cristallina dei valori che il suo brand rappresenta.
Il suo punto di forza e' la creazione di abbigliamento di massa usando le tecniche del fatto a mano, l'artigianalita' vince sulle tendenze e ogni processo e' manuale; la tessitura, la tintura, la maglieria, i ricami,

LFW New Designers: Molly Goddard

I included Molly Goddard in my LFW SS16 10 best looks and told you that I'd write specifically about her in a later post. Here it is with perfect timing, as she is one of the nominees at the British Fashion Awards 2015 in the Emerging Womenswear Designer category. She's also the second of the three new designers that I'm writing about, together with Danielle Romeril and Faustine Steinmetz, who's a nominee in the same category too.

The picture above doesn't scream fashion in the usual way and such a ''charming awkwardeness'' - quoting Goddard's description of her style - is what makes her collections and overall inspiration stand out; a fresh, down to earth approach to clothes and a simple way to show how wearable they are. The SS 16 collection was in the form of a presentation where models where working in a sandwich factory, wearing party pretty party dresses, looking grumpy and bored as if they just got from a party or were ready to rush to one after their shift.

Ho incluso Molly Goddard nei 10 migliori look della LFW SS16 e vi ho promesso che avrei scritto di lei in un post successivo. Eccolo qui con tempismo prefetto visto che e' una delle nominate ai British Fashion Awards 2015 nella categoria Emerging Womenswear Designer. E' anche la seconda delle tre stiliste che ston approfondendo sul blog, con Danielle Romeril e Faustine Steinmetz, anche lei con una nomination nella stessa categoria.

L'immagine qui sopra non grida moda come ci si aspetta e questa '' affascinante stranezza'' - citando la descrizione del suo stile della Goddard - e' cio' che fa emergere su tutti le sue collezioni e la sua ispirazione; un approccio con i piedi per terra, fresco e un modo semplice di mostrare gli abiti e di come siano facili da indossare.

La collezione SS16 e' stata una presentazione in cui le modelle lavoravano in un'azienda che produce sandwich, indossando dei party dress con un'espressione annoiata e arrabbiata come se fossero appena tornate da una festa o fossero pronte ad andarci, dopo il turno di lavoro.

As promised a couple of weeks ago, charting the 10 LFW SS16 best looks , I'm going to focus in this post on one of the three emerging designers that showed her collection on the main schedule: Danielle Romeril. As her name and her namesake brand is totally new to me I had to do some research into them and that lead me into an interesting journey through her African inspiration for the SS16 collection.

Come promesso un paio di settimane fa, facendo la classifica dei migliori 10 look della LFW SS16, in questo post approfondiro' una delle tre stiliste emergenti nel calendario ufficiale; Danielle Romeril. poiche' sia il suo nome che il brand mi sono totalmente nuovi ho fatto un po' di ricerca che mi ha portato a 'viaggiare' in Africa attraverso l'ispirazione della sua la collezione SS16.

London Fashion Week SS16. 10 Best Looks.

LFW has just finished and I'm not going to write any review of the shows, all of them are already on line but I've rounded up the 10 best looks that I saw on the runway. This season I didn't get involved as much as I wanted both because I was away on holiday ( South of France!!) and because when I had the chance to go to show/presentation I decided to be a responsible grown, stay at home and deal with a bathroom 'crisis' 

( no toilette, shower, basin for a day and then thick dust everywhere!). I followed the show everyday though as I daily rounded up the best 5 looks for FashionNewsMagazine on Facebook and posted a review ( in Italian about the whole season). Some of the designers are established ones that I particularly love, others are emerging designers ( Romeril, Steinmetz and Goddard) whom I 'll talk about in an another post

LFW e' appena finita e non scrivero' alcuna recensone visti che tutte sono gia' online ma ho raccolto i migliori 10 look che ho visto in passerella. Questa stagione non ho potuto partecipare attivamente all'evento come avrei voluto, sia perche' ero in vacanza ( Sud della Francia!) e sia perche' ho deciso di fare l'adulto, rimanere a casa e far fornte all 'crisi' bagno (senza toilette, doccia e lavabo per un giorno intero oltre a stati di polvere e calcinacci dappertutto!). Ho comunque seguito le sfilate online ogni giorno e ogni mattina ho postatop i migliori 5 look sulla pagina Facebook di FashionNewsMagazine e ho postato una panoramica sulla manifestazione. Alcuni degli stilisti sono affermati e mi piacciono particolarmente, altri sono emergenti ( Romeril, Steinmetz e Goddard) di cui vi parlero' in un prossimo post.

London Collections:Men SS16 10 Best Looks

In no particular order here are the best 10 looks from the LCM SS16 shows. I'm getting more and more into menswear and as LCM grows so my interest and wish to wear the following brands and looks.

Ecco in ordine sparso i milgliori 10 look delle sfilate della LCM SS16. Di stagione in stagione mi sto appassionando sempre di piu' al menswear e cosi' come la LCM cresce cosi' anche il mio interesse e il desiderio di indossare i look dei brand qui sotto.
