The mid season sales started 10 days ago here in the UK and now that I work full time in retail, I do have the privilege to experience and see first hand how some people's behaviour changes when the sales are on. I did noticed it at first last Christmas, but this time round, my observation is more refined and detailed :-) Here three 'creatures' that appear during shopping season.
DISCLAIMER: I do love my job and the fact that people are able to buy and save up to 50% of their money during the sales. This post is not a critic towards shopping but just an 'antropological observation'.

I saldi di mezza stagione sono iniziati da 10 giorni qui in Inghilterra e ora che lavoro full time nel settore del commercio, ho il privilegio di assistere e di vedere in prima persona come cambia il comportamento di alcune persone durante i saldi. Ci avevo fatto caso gia' a Natale, ma questa volta, la mia osservazione e' piu' raffinata e dettagliata :-) Ecco tre 'creature' che appaiono durnate i saldi.
DISCLAIMER: adoro il mio lavoro ed il fatto che che i clineti abbiano la possibilita' di comprare e risparmiare fino al 50%. Questo post non e' una critica allo shopping ma solamente un' 'osservazione 'antropologica'.

1)THE COMPULSIVE SHOPPER
This creature goes to the shop floor straight to the cash desk, without going through the fitting room. Oh no, the compulsive shopper doesn't try things on: it's only a waste of time. She know the return policy by heart, so that if something doesn't fit,she doesn't like it anymore once at home or she finds a better bargain in another shop, she knows she has 28 days, with receipt, to return it and that's worth another shopping trip! She usually buys between 5 and 15 items, few or which will be exchanged/returned.

1) LA SHOPPER COMPULSIVA
Questa creatura va dall'interno del negozio alla cassa senza passare per i camerini. Oh no, la shopper compulsiva non prova le cose: e' solo una perdita di tempo! Conosce le regole per avere rimborso e cambiare i capi a memoria, cosi' se un capo nn le sta bene, non le piace piu' una volta tornata casa o ha trovato un'offerta migliore in un altro negozio, sa che ha 28 giorni di tempo, con scontrino, per riportare tutto e fare un'altra shopping trip'! Di solito compra tra i 5 ed i 15 capi, alcuni dei quali poi saranno cambiati/rimborsati.
2) THE FOREIGN STUDENT
This creature usually goes around in groups, they can be small or large. It has a backpack, can be teenager with a spotty face and dental braces and usually really little command of the language of the natives. It's behaviour is gregarious so that if one the group buys something then everybody else follow suit. It comes across as rude sometimes, for the language factor, as it seems not to be confident enough to respond to a 'Hi' and/or say 'Thank you'. It pays in cash and generally buys one item.

Questa creatura di solito si aggira in gruppo, che puo' essere piu' o meno grande. Ha uno zaino in spalla, puo' essere un teenager con viso brufoloso e apprecchio per i denti e di solito con una consocenza della lingua dei nativi molto limitata. Il suo comportamento e' gregario, quindi se uno del gruppo compra qualcosa, tutti lo seguono a ruota. Da l'impressione di essere maleducato, per il fattore linguistico, poiche' non sembra avere abbastanza sicurezza nel rispodere ad un saluto e/o dire 'Grazie'. Paga in contanti e generalmente compra un capo.
3) THE (WELL OFF) BORED HOUSEWIFE
The bored housewife creature shops anyway and at anytime, so sales are just a bonus, really. She's usually in her forties, fifties, she looks elegant and her hair and make up and perfect. She buys a lot of items, just like the compulsive shopper type ( see above) but she does try things on in the fitting room as she does have all the time in the world and she shops with no hurry at all. She can return/exchange a lot though. I've personally saw one of them buying and returning three days in row!

3) LA CASALINGA (BENESTANTE) ANNOIATA
La creatura casalinga annoiata fa shopping comunque e in ogni momento, quindi i saldi sono solo un bonus. Di solito tra i 40 ed i 50 anni, appare elegante e dal trucco e parrucco sempre perfetti. Compra molti capi, proprio come la shopper compulsiva (vedi sopra) ma se li prova tutti in camerino visto che ha tutto il tempo del mondo a disposizione e fa shopping senza fretta. Puo' riportare/avere rimborsati i capi un bel po', pero'. Ne ho personalmente vista una comprare e riportare per tre giorni di seguito!
