AltaRoma 7-11 luglio 2011 officially started today and the first event that I attend, as 'on official.backtage photograper, was ' Fashion narrates History, created and organised by Accademia del Lusso to celebrate the 150th year of Italy's Unification in fashion style.

Today it was the Rome branch of the accademia to host the event after Milan, Treviso and Palermo.

AltaRoma 7-11 luglio 2011 è ufficialmente iniziata e il primo evento a cui ho pertecipato, in veste di fotografo 'non ufficiale'-backstage è stato 'La Moda racconta la Storia' ideato ed organizzato dall'Accademia del Lusso per festeggiare i 150 anni dell'Unità d'Italia in puro fashion style.

Oggi è toccato alla sede di Roma, dopo Milano, Treviso e Palermo.

It was a pleasure to be there, as my fashion family is taking shape: I met a consistent number of people I knew and been introduced to some nice ones as well ;-)

I was  at my ease chatting away backstage, chatting the time away, taking pictures and updating with Mariano Sabatelli, a really talented make up artist and hair stylist, Andreea, a model I styled  for some book photos of her, some of my fellow styling course mates and people working for the Accademia.

Here some backstage pictures of the event and shots of the outfits inspired by the Italian flag and the history of the Unification, made by the fashion design students.

E' stato veramente un piacere essere li', poichè la mia 'fashion family' sta prendendo forma: ho incontrato un bel numero di persone che conoscevo e sono stato presentato ad altre molto carine ;-)

Sono stato a mio agio dietro le quinte,chiacchierando, facendo foto e aggiornandomi con Mariano Sabatelli, un talentuosissimo make up artist e hair stylist, Andreea, una modella che ho vestito per alcune foto del suo book, alcuni compagni di corso e studenti e docenti dell'Accademia.

Alta Moda Roma: Dan backstage at Abed Mahfouz.

Just few lines and some pictures about the backstage of my first fashion show. As you know (http://dbstyle-thestylist.blogspot.com/2011/01/dan-goes-to-alta-moda-roma.html ) it was Haute Couture Abed Mahfouz S/S '11 fashion show that I attended thanks to the designer PR and Accademia del Lusso. The lovely Maria Cristina Rigano let me and my two styling friends ( Tiziana and Alessandra)  peep backstage soon after the show.

Solo poche righe ed alcune foto del backstage della mia prima sfilata. Come sapete( http://dbstyle-thestylist.blogspot.com/2011/01/dan-goes-to-alta-moda-roma.html) è stata la sfilata di Alta Moda di Abed Mahfouz P/E '11 e vi ho partecipato grazie alla PR dello stlista e all'Accademia del Lusso. La deliziosa Maria Cristina Rigano ha permesso a me e alle mie due amiche di styling ( Tiziana e Alessandra) di ficcare il naso dietro le quinte appena finita la sfilata.

Dan goes to Alta Moda Roma!

Dan goes to Alta Moda Roma, a bit like Frankie goes to Holliwood. I've been invited on Januery 29th to the S/S 11/12 Abed Mahfouz  fashion show by my previous tutor at Accademia del Lusso, Maria Cristina Rigano, who works as a PR for this Lebanese designer. She also organises the maison fashion shows and photoshoots.

It is my first fashion show EVER, I'm super excited about it and already at work to get a stunning outfit for the occasion.

For those who don't know Abed Mahfouz, let me just tell you that he is a master of evening gowns and wedding dresses and his style is often being defined as architectural and, I add, a work of art. But let's the pictures talk for themselves.

Dan va ad Alta Moda Roma, un po' come Frankie goes to Holliwood. Sono stato invitato per il 29 gennaio  alla  sfilata P/E 11/12 di Abed Mahfouz, dalla mia tutor dell'Accademia del Lusso, Maria Cristina Rigano, che lavora come PR  per lo stilista libanese. Ma non solo, Maria Cristina è anche l'organizzatrice delle sfilate e dei photoshoot della maison.

E' la mia prima sfilata in ASSOLUTO, sono super eccitato e già al lavoro per mettere assemblare un completo da indossare per l'occasione.

per chi non conoscesse Abed Mahfouz, fatemi solo dire che è un maestro nel creare abiti da sera e vestiti da sposa e che il suo stile è stato spesso definito architettonico e, aggiungo io, le sue creazioni dei capolavori d'arte. Ma lascio che le immagini parlino da sole.

Backstage video and the fashion show

Roma. Complesso Monumentale S.Spirito in Sassia. Quando in passerella scendono gli abiti di Abed Mahfouz la platea trattiene il fiato. Sa che la passerella sta per trasformarsi in palcoscenico di uno spettacolo scenografico da Le Mille e una Notte. Tra scintillii, tagli arditi, pizzi, trasparenze e cascate di décor il tempo si ferma e comincia il sogno di una couture che non conosce limitazioni alla sua ardita fantasia. Gli abiti di Mahfouz sono delle vere e proprie sculture, ogni colore, ogni volume, ogni soluzione architettonica viene sperimentata ed elaborata con passione. Abed Mahfouz ama le donne e sa renderle delle vere regine. Servizio di Anna Maria Tinghino.

'70 icons + 2011 styling!

Finally I got together the follow up to my '70 moodboard post. As I told you (http://dbstyle-thestylist.blogspot.com/2011/01/so-70-moodboard.html ), once the moodboard is established and edited, the pictures  can be translated into defined visual elements, in my case an outfit.

So, yesterday my moodaboard got checked, commented on and improved by my wonderful Fashion Styling course tutor, Valeria, and I focused on comics/cartoon '70 icons.

The first three I've just finished are: Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop from 'Wackey Races', and Eva Kant ( from an Italian comic). I've re-interpreted the characters both from a styling point of view and above all I gave them a funny/comical twist. Check it out! ;-)

Finalmente ho raccolto il materiale necessario per il seguito del mio post sul moodboard anni '70. Come vi ho spiegato (http://dbstyle-thestylist.blogspot.com/2011/01/so-70-moodboard.html ), una volta che il moodboard è fatto ed editato, le immagini possono essere tradotte in elementi visivi precisi, nel mio caso degli outfit.

Dunque, ieri il mio moodboard è stato controllato, commentato e migliorato dalla meravigliosa tutor del mio corso di Fashion Styling, Valeria, e mi sono concentrato sulle icone degli anni'70 di cartoni animati e fumetti.

I primi tre che ho terminato sono: Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop 'Le corse pazze' ( Wackey races), ed Eva Kant. Ho reinterpretato i personaggi sia da un punto di vista dello styling e sopratutto gli ho dato un tocco di ironia. Vedere per credere! ;-)

Wonder picnic Woman.

Wonder Woman loves being outside and arrange picnis with her girlfriends. The colours and the silhoutte are the same of the past but adapted to a rural location

Wonder Woman adora stare all'aria aperta ed organizzare picnic con le amiche. I colori e la silhoutte sono quelli di una volta ma adattati ad una location campestre!

  

Penelope Pitstop 2011.

Penelope still adores driving but her wacky race driving got her into trouble! She's got no points left on her driving licence. She's on foot...for the moment.

Penelope adora ancora guidare ma il suo stile di guida pazzo l'ha messa nei guai! Non ha piu' punti sulla patente. Sta a piedi...per ora.

Eva Kant ... en rouge!

Eva got fed up with wearing only black and flat shoes. She didn't stand either the fact that she couldn't carry a small bag for her i-Pod and lipstick during her burglaries! So, now she's wearing a bright red jumpsuit, a body with red and pink frills, black killer wedges and a huge cow-print rucksack! She doesn't care if working like that it's not very comfortable but at keat she feel stylist now.

Eva si era stufata di indossare solo nero e ballerine. Non poteva nemmemo portarsi una borsetta per l'i-Pod ed il rossetto durante i furti! Quindi, ora indossa una tutina rosso fuoco, un body con piccole balze rosse e rosa, wedge vertiginosi ed un enorme zaino a stampa mucca! Non le importa se lavorare cosi' non è molto comodo ma almeno si sente stylish.

The sound of style - Accademia del Lusso,Fashion Styling final project

As I told you in a previous post, here it is my first EVER photo shoot project. I'm attending a Fashion Styling course in Rome at Accademia del Lusso and the following shooting it's the final project that we did in November. It's not perfect, of course, but I've learned a lot ( particularly what not to do!!).
