SS 15 Trend File. Back To The '70. Shop&Style It.

After last post about prints, patterns and colours of the '70 trend for the SS15 season, here's a quick and easy shopping and styling guide about it. In terms of shopping I've selected three high-street brands - ASOS, River island and H&M - so that you can either shop online or just pop instore and have a browse. Styling wise I have to say that the '70 is one of the easiest trends to style as the colour palette is quirky and fun and you are free to go over the top with it or keep it simple. my only advice is not to be afraid of colour and patterns and to try things on even if they look crazy on the hanger. The shapes, large and comfy, are flattering on any bodyshape; the palazzo pants paired with wedges do elongate the figure and the culotte and swing dresses can be styled up or down according to your necessities. here's my picks. The items, from left to right are all ASOS, RI and H&M.

Dopo lo scorso post sulle stampe, le fantasie e i colori del trend anni '70 della prossima stagione SS15, ecco una semplice e veloce guida allo shopping e allo styling di questo trend. Per quanto riguarda lo shopping ho scelto tre brand high-street - ASOS, River Island e H&M - in modo che possiate fare shopping online o fare un salto in negozio per darci un'occhiata. Devo dire che ' lo styling di questo trend e semplicissimo poiche' la palette di colori e divertente e originale e siete libere sia di esagerare che di andarci leggere; il mio unico consiglio e' quello di non avere timore di provare colori e fantasie che sulla stampella sembrano da pazzi. Le silhouette infatti , larghe e comode, si addicono ad ogni conformazione fisica; i pantaloni a palazzo se abbinato con un sandalo wedge allungano la figura e sia le culotte che gli abiti a linea ad A possono nascondono le imperfezioni e possono essere indossati per outfit casual o piu' formal a secondo delle vostre esigenze.Ecco le mie scelte. I capi, da sinistra a destra, sono di ASOS, RI e H&M.

SS15 Trend File - Back To The '70. Colours, Prints&Patterns.

'What goes around comes around'...ehm, yes that's the 2009 Justin Timberlake hit song but in this post I'll be talking about the '70 trend that not only is coming back for the SS15 season but it was also my first ever moodboard and fashion shoot I did back in 2011 when I was sill in Rome studying fashion styling.

In the past three weeks at work we had a drop of '70 items - palazzo pants, lacey top, bardot tops, '70 prints and crochet cover ups. Before I take you through what to buy, I found out that I already had three moodboards ready for the '70 styling - that is the work I did in 2011 with the addition of three '70 iconic comic characters women; Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop and the Italian Eva Kant.

What you can take with you from the moodboards is a guide on key colours, prints and patterns that can guide you through your shopping around and styling the pieces you have picked once at home.

'A volte ritornano'...ehm, si e' il titolo di un film dell'orrore del 1981 ma in questo post mi riferisco al trend anni '70 che non solo torna per la stagione SS15 ma e' stato anche la mia ispirazione per il mio primo moodboard e fashion shoot nel 2011 a Roma quando ancora studiavo styling.

Da tre settimane a lavoro abbiamo capi anni '70 in vendita - pantaloni palazzo, top in pizzo, top Bardot, stampe anni '70 e cover up all'uncinetto. Prima di darvi una panoramica su cosa acquistare, mi sono ricordato che avevo pronti tree moodbors sullo styling anni '70 - e' il lavoro fatto nel 2011 con l'aggiunta di tre personaggi iconici del periodo; Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop e Eva Kant.

I moodbaodr qui sono sono una guida sui colori, le stampe e le fantasie tipiche del periodo che vi daranno una mano nello shopping in negozio e poi nello styling una volta a casa.

AltaRoma Gennaio 2015. La Groupie Haute Couture di Luigi Borbone

Ieri sera Luigi Borbone ha di nuovo scosso l'ambiente ed il pubblico dell'Alta Moda romana (menomale!) con una collezione che senza mezzi termini 'contesta i formalismi', cosi' come da comunicato stampa, intitolata ''Pamela'', ispirata dalla prima groupie rock Pamela Des Barres, 'compagna' di Mick Jagger e Jimmy Page e fondatrice del marchio Groupie Couture.

Il pigiama palazzo in seta con maxi motivo grafico a bandiera in Swarovski e' il look distintivo della collezione, punteggiata da giacche da torero e decori clericali, creando un lusso informale ma sopratutto dando un senso all'esistenza dell'Alta Moda ai giorni nostri.

Il legame con la Couture del passato è presente anche nella palette di colori, bianco, nero e rosso, che rimanda a Gruau, illustratore per Dior, nella scelta dei tessuti - georgette, crepe de chine e cadì di seta - forniti dalla Tessitura Attilio Imperiali e il legame con il presente sono i ricami ottenuti tramite le nuove tecnologie dell'azienda Transfermania International.

Come già detto in precedenza, Luigi Borbone fa parte di quei couturier che crea l'Alta Moda del Contemporaneo a Roma, che ieri ha fatto il paio con l'omaggio a Sophia Loren di Giada Curti e che nonostante in platea ancora susciti mormorii e commenti di disapprovazione, prosegue imperterrito a mantenere alta la sua bandiera di 'enfant terrible'. Bravo Luigi!

In need of a dungaree!!

Dungarees and jumpsuits/playsuits are coming back! :-) Good news indeed as they conjure up childhood memories and fashion moments from the '90 too ;-) We all have worn a dungaree as kids, particularly if, like me you were born in the '70 ( I'm 1979 ). Obviously in 2013 this item has been reworked and modernised so that you find it not only in denim but also in other colours and prints.

La salopette e' tornata!! E' una buona notizia, sopratutto perche' mi rievoca ricordi d'infanzia e momenti 'fashion' degli anni '90 ;-) Penso che piu' o meno tuytti noi abbiamo indossato da bambini una salopette, sopratutto se, come me, nati negli anni '70 ( io sono del 1979). Ovviamente nel 2013 questo capo e' stato rielaborato e modernizzato e lo si trova non solo in denim ma anche in altri colori e stampe.

The good news though are only for ladies, for the time being, as I haven't found (yet), ANY fancy dungaree for men...that is for ME! :-(( I'll keep looking and waiting, and hope that with the S/S high street collections landing in stores soon, I may be able to snap something for me ( fingers crossed!).

Check the enormous variations both on ASOS and River Island, and even within the Rihanna for River Island Collection...and if you find anything for men, just give me a shout, please!

Queste buone notizie sono solo per l'abbigliamento donna, per ora, visto che, al momento, non ho ancora trovato NULLA da uomo...cioe' per ME :-(( Continuero'a tenere gli occhi aperti e aspettare, e speriamo che con l'arrivo delle collezioni S/S nei negozi, riesca ad accaparrarmi qualcosa ( dita incrociate!).
Andatevi a vedere le molteplici ozpioni su ASOS e River Island, e persino nella collezione di Rihanna for River Island....e se trovata qualcosa da uomo in giro, beh, fatemi sapere eh!

Styling Fun - The '70 reloaded

I finally had the chance to have my first styling shoot released. It is the project at the end of my styling course in Rome. I had posted step by step posts of it but what was missing were the final pictures!

Finalmente ho la possibilita' di vedere realizzato il mio primo shooting. E' il progetto finale del mio corso di styling fatto a Roma. Avevo postato le fasi dello shooting a Marzo ma mancavano le foto finali!

Mercato Monti - Style&Vintage Excellence!!

It was grey, cold and humid Roman Sunday but it was well worth it to make my way to the Mercato Monti, The Box Vintage Fair @ the Raddison Blu Hotel, just off Rome's Central Termini Station.

E' stata una di quelle grigie, fredde ed umide domeniche romane ma è valsa piu' che la pena farmi strada all'alla mostra/mercato vintage Mercato Monti, The Box al Raddison Blu Hotel, proprio accanto la Stazione Termini.

In the main Fair room the athmosphere was warm, friendly (yep, people smiled to me and said 'Good morning'!) and hip as the Rione Monti (Monti area) truly is.

And a BIG bonus ( for me, anyway) was to see many young faces, both at the stands and around the fair checking and buying vintage clothes, accessories, books, design pieces, furniture etc...

Nella sala principale della mostra/mercato l'atmosfera era calda, amichevole (si, le persone mi hanno sorriso e detto 'Buongiorno'!) e alternativa proprio come il Rione Monti in effeti è.

E un OTTIMO bonus (almeno per me, comunque) è stato il vedere tante faccie giovani, sia dientro agli stand che in giro a curiosare e comprare abbigliamento, accessori, libri, pezzi di desing e mobilio vintage etc...

There were more stands that I would have like to feature and take pictures of but I could stay only an hour so I left out some of them.

N.B. Non sono pagato e nemmeno mi è stato chiesto di parlare dei seguenti negozimarchi. ne scrivo perchè ritengo che abbiano una bella dose di gusto e creatività.

C'erano molti altri stand di cui avrei voluto mostrare e di cui fare foto ma sono potuto rimanere solo un'ora e ne ho dovuti lasciare fuori alcuni.

The first stand that took my attention was King Size and its vintage accessories and clothes racks.

I found the variety of sunglasse, hats (venison trapper's and aviator's hat included!), bags and shoes, complete and smart. The selection of leather jacket, blazers, short pants, shirts and trousers extremely cared for and all the pieces were vintage and hugely wearable, with a contemporary feel about it. Plus the two owners (shame I didn't ask their names) were extremely nice and kindly let me take the following pics.

Il primo stand che ha catturato la mia attenzione è stato quello di King Size e i suoi accessori vintage e gli stand dell'abbigliamento. Ho trovato la varietà degli occhiali da sole, cappelli (compreso un colbacco di visone e un cappello da aviatore!), borse e scarpe, completa ed elegante. La selezione di giacchetti di pelle, blazer, pantaloncini, camicie e pantaloni estremamente curata e tutti i pezzi erano vintage ed estremamente indossabili per quel tocco di contemporaneità che li distingue. Inoltre i due titolari ( peccato che non gli ho chiesto i nomi) sono stati vermente gentili e senza problemi mi hanno fatto fare le seguenti foto.
