Estranged Fashion shoot

I should be used to it by now but I'm not. Having a fashion shoot published after months they have been done. It happened again today with 'Estranged', a shoot I styled here in Sussex back in April. This morning I've been alerted by Bernadette, the model that the pictures were on line, in The Storm Magazine. How nice!

Ci dovrei essere abituato ormai ma non lo sono. Vedere uno shooting pubblicato dopo mesi che si e' fatto. E' successo nuovamente oggi con 'Estranged', per cui ho curato lo styling qui nel Sussex ad aprile. Stamattina sono stato avvertito da Bernadette, la modella, che le foto erano online su The Storm Magazine. Che bello!

Styling and shooting. China Doll Boutique lookbook

After two posts about my latest styling project for China Doll Boutique, I'm really happy to show you the final pictures. I'm really pleased with them. I LOVE them. Ailera, the photographer is really talented and I really love her style and the use of only natural ligh. There are a lot of pictures I could show you, so I picked just one for each look - and there are more than 20!

Dopo due post sul mio ultimo progetto di styling per China Doll Boutique, sono veramente contento di potervi finalmente mostrare le foto. Mi piacciono tantissimo. Le ADORO. Ailera, la fotografa e' veramente piena di talento e mi piace il suo stile e l'uso della sole luce naturale. Ci sono moltissime foto che vi potrei mostrare, quindi ne ho scelta una per ogni look - e ce ne sono piu' di 20!

Styling and shooting: Sussex shoot

Can't tell you why it took me nine months before being able to shoot in the area where I live, Sussex, but it's finally happening...tomorrow. I'm so happy and this shoot got me in touch with a great designer that was under my styling radar for quite a while :-)

So tomorrow I'll be going to West Worthing, half an hour from Brighton, where the model will have her hair and make up done and then, address aside, I don't really know much about the location (s) I'll be shooting. Judging from the photographer's previous work it's going to be either by the sea or on the seafornt...but I'm just guessing. The pictures that you see here ( see? I can take pictures Mr Anonymous commentator!) are my styling preparation work for tomorrow with Peter Twiss designs. He's a designer working in the area but with boutiques in London, Bath, Paris and Zurich. The styling it's not 100% what would be shot as changes are in the nature of a fashion photoshoot.

I'll get back to you in a couple of days with some backstage pics and all the credits of the peopel involved .

Non so dirvi come mai ci abbia messo nove mesi prima di poter fare uno shooting nella zona in cui vivo, il Sussex, ma finalmente succedera'...domani. So veramente contento e questo shooting mi ha messo in contatto con un designer che avevo nel mio radar gia' da qualche tempo :-)

Dunque domani andro' a West Worthing , una mezzo'oretta da Brighton, dove la modella sara' preparata, trucco e parrucco, e oltre all'indirizzo, non so nulla della location dove scatteremo. A giudare dai lavori precedenti della fotografa sara' o il lungomare o in spiaggia ma sto solo ipotizzando. Le foto di questo post ( visto? Sono capace di fare foto miei Signor commentatore anonimo!) sono il mio lavoro di preparazione con alcune creazioni di Peter Twiss. E' un designer che lavora in zona ma ha boutique a Londra, bath, Parigi e Zurigo. Lo styling non e' al 100% quello che verra' scattato poiche' cmabi dell'ultimo moemento sono nella natura di ogni fashion shoot. Mi rifaro' vivo tra un paio di giorni con foto di backstage e tutti i nomi delle persone coinvolte.

So happy to have my first fashion editorial picked and published :-)

I styled this editorial back in November, using SS12 garments and originally planned to submitt it to Papercut magazine in December. But submission never go according to plan, I mean if you get picked up fine, otherwise it is worth, like in this case to keep submitting.

So proud of my work and of all the creative team involved, Izras Dixon, the photographer, Polly Mann, make up and hair, Olivia Segal, Assistant, edyta  the model and all the designers that gave me the opportunity to use their gorgeous creations. Sono felicissimo di vedere finalmente il mio primo editorial scelto e pubblicato ;-)

Ho fatto lo styling per questo editorial a novembre, usando abbigliamento SS12 e originariamente era stato pianificato per un contributo a papercut magazine a dicembre. Ma i contributi spontanei non vanno mai secondo i piani, voglio dire che se vieni scelto...bene, altrimenti vale la pena insistere e mandare l'editorial ad altri magazine, come in questo caso.

Sono orgolgioso del lavoro fatto e del team coinvolto, izras Dixon il fotografo, Polly Mann trucco e parrucco, Olivia Segal l'assistente, Edyta, la modella e gli stilisti che mi hanno dato la possibilita' di usare i loro meravigliosi abiti. Styling and shooting: R.A.R Fashion AW 11/12 Campaign and Miista.com Shoes

 As I blogged about my latest styling project for R.A.R Fashion campaign a week ago I didn't mention the great shoes that I was able to pull and use for the shoot :-)

Thanks to a Facebook post I saw by chance I found out the amazing shoe collection by Miista.com.

Great design, quality and...the Miista staff was really available, freindly and easy to deal with, from the owner and designer of the label, Laura Villasenin to the girls, Tess and Una, I met at the studio/office to collect and return the shoes.

I used four pair of their A/W collection but sadly :-( only two pairs made it into the final shots - the Andee boots, in black and tan brown....check them out!

Nel post della scorsa settimana sul  di mio ultimo progetto di styling per la campagna R.A.R Fashion non ho menzionato le scarpe favolose che ho avuto l'opportunita' di usare grazie a Miista.com.

Ottimo design ed ottima qualita' e...lo staff Miista e' stato molto disponibile, affabile e piacevole, apartire dalla proprietaria e designer Laura Villasenin, alle ragazze, Tess ed Una, che ho incontrato nello studio/uffcio nel prendere e riconsegnare le scarpe.

Ho usato quattro paia di scarpe della collezione A/W ma purtroppo solo due paia sono finite nelle foto finite - gli stivali Andee in nero e marrone...andate a dargli un'occhiata!

A seguire le immagini finali, con abiti R.A.R Fashion e le scarpe di cui sopra :-)

Styling and shooting: R.A.R Fashion AW 11/12 Campaign

Recently styled the latest  R.A.R Fashion campaign in South West London and really, really pleased both with experience and the results. The whole team was great and working with Ryan it's enjoyable as he's got really precise and clear ideas of what he wants to achieve while shooting and we do share the same vision and taste in styling the outfits.

 

The campaign is called ' Fashion is My Capital ' and shot against the background of the major Fashion Week cities.  This how Ryan Anton Reid describes it:

'R.A.R Fashion A/W 11-12 Collection is based around the working women that loves to travel as much as she loves her fashion. The collection is very clean and simple sticking with the motto of R.A.R Fashion making statement pieces that can be worked in to every woman’s wardrobe. 

With only eight statement garments in the collection that can be mix and matched with classic and current trends. The Collection keeps it very simple with fabric with faux fur giraffe print fabric mixed with a light and heavy wool fabric. For the first time R.A.R Fashion has designed outerwear with a Jacket and long Coat that fits in to collection with draped backs, fitted garments and a more grown up womanly feeling. '

Dario at LFW. AUTOMATIC Exhibition. Fashion and Photography.

On Wednesday the 16th of Febraury few pictures that I styled last week, durind a cold and snowy Sunday in London, in tandem with another stylist and the photographer Carine Ottou, will be shown at the AUTOMATIC Exhibition, as part of the London Fashion Week event calendar :-)

The designer Sarmite Ostanevica let 20 creative teams shoot her AW12 collection with the only brief to develop the concept of automatic that is the collection ispiration.

Quite thrilled and don't know really what to expect. We are being told that there will be some press and fashion industry people and other fashionistas around.

So I already have my business card ready and I'll keep you update about it.

AUTOMATIC is a collaborative exhibition involving one of Latvian’s leading fashion designer Sarmite Ostanevica and up coming London based fashion photographers. Sarmite Ostanevica’s AW/12 collection draws its inspiration from the mechanical world, through the combination of shape, colour and texture. 

Through the creative eye of this inovative and talented photographic team, Automatic captures Sarmite’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

Leonardo Da Vinci - Photoshop inventor?

Few weeks ago I went to the National Gallery to see the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition that focused on his year at the Milan court  in the late 1480s and 1490s and his production of that period.

The reason why I'm talking about it in here, a fashion blog, it's the first thought that I had looking at his portraits. For the first time ever, infact, I was looking at them as if I had seen them before and they were really familiar - note that it was the first time in fact. Then I realised that the familiarity that my eye detected was due to the Leonrado chiaroscuro tecnique that in 2012 we may call Photoshop.

Established that I kept looking and looking and furthr realised how the fashion imagery of our times is really similar, probably infuenced by him, more than 500 years later. Amazing.

We're litterally surrounded by photoshopped pictures and I've included some examples from recent campaigns by Mert and Marcus that capture the Leonardo heavy influence.

Just to be clear: I'm using the adjective photoshopped in amerely descriptive sense and not in a negative way, as this post doesnt focus on what I think about Photoshop and its implications.
