Quattromani Magic Girl Lookbook FW15

A quasi cinque mesi di distanza e' emozionante rinfrescarsi la memoria con le immagini di una collezione vista sfilare ad AltaRoma. Sto parlando della collezione FW15 di Quattromani, ispirata alle Janas, fatine tessitrici del folklore sardo, che non solo infondono un mood lunare e bagliori lurex agli outfit, ma creano di capo in capo l'immagine di una 'magic girl', una giovane donna attiva, elegante, moderna e sicura di se'.

Beat The Heat. Stylish Hats and Sunglasses For Her&Him.

In my last post, inspired my Roman holiday, I told you how I don't particularly like it when the temperature it's too hot and doing anything is really tiring. If dressing up to go out for an aperitive and then dinner comes naturally to most of us, it is possible, with some care, to look smart and stylish even when the sun is up high and you do have to run errands in town or simply be a diligent tourist seeing the sights. 

The way I kept cool and comfortable during the day was always wearing my River Island flat cap and my Prada sunglasses. This combo really worked and I was then able not only not to get a sunburn or a sun stroke but also to be out and about with the least discomfort. Nello scorso post, ispirato alle mue vacanze romane, vi ho raccontato di come non mi piaccia particolrmente quando la temperatura e' troppo alta e fare qualsiasi cosa diventa faticosissimo. Se vestirsi per bene per andare a prendere un aperitivo e poi a cena e' naturale per molti di noi, e' possibile, con un po' di accortezza, avere stile anche quando il sole e' alto e magari ci sono commissioni da fare in giro o semplicemente essere dei turisti diligenti e visitare cio' che c'e' da vedere.

Sono riuscito a rimanere al fresco e in relativo comfort durante il giorno, indossando sempre la mia scoppoletta River Island e gli occhiali da sole Prada. Questa combinazione ha funzionato alla grande e non solo non mi sono ustionato e non ho preso colpi di sole ma sono stato in giro con il minor disagio possibile. Eccovi una selezione di cappelli e occhiali da sole per aiutarvi a combattere il caldo.

I just got back from a very hot Rome and as I don't partcularly like the hot weather, the sweat and a suntan, my favourite part of the day was around sunset when the temperature was mild, the gold of the sun reflecting on building, monuments and ruins and it was aperitivo time!

With it the chance to get changed, to dress up, ready for dinner and start drinking a cocktail or two and occasionaly a beer. Below a selection of stylish items from Italian designers that will take you from pre-dinner drink to refreshing and tasty dinners.

Sono appena tornato da una Roma caldissima e visto che no mi piace affatto il clima estivo, il sudare e l'abbronzatura, il mio momento preferito di ogni giornata  e' stato il tramonto quando la temperatura e'piacevole, la luce dorata del sole si riflette su palazzi, monumenti e rovine e sopratutto e' il momento dell'aperitivo!

Every now and then I have the fortune to find out not only brands that I don't know but also ones with heritage and made in Italy. You do know that fashion wise I'm divided between the Uk ( Brighton and London mostly) and Italy ( Rome most of all but not only). Last week in my inbox I was sent a press release about the upcoming e-commerce launch of a bags and accessories brand - Ripani - that it's been on the market for 45 years and its SS15 collection. I'm pretty sure that I've come accross their bags before but, to be completely honest, the name sounded new to me, even though it is available worldwide as far as the the Dubay Mall!

A volte ho la fortuna di scoprire non solo brand che non conosco ma che hanno una storia e sono Made in Italy. Sapete che io ed il mio blog siamo divisi tra il Regno Unito ( Brighton e Londra principalmente) e l'Italia ( Roma sopratutto ma non solo). la scorsa settimana nella mia inbox mi e' stato mandato il cs del lancio del sito di e-commerce di un brand di borse ed accessori - Ripani - che e' sul mercato da ben 45 anni. Sicuramente ho visto le loro borse in passato ma, ad essere completamente onesto, il nome del brand, fino ad oggi, mi e' suonato nuovo, nonostante le sue collezioni siano disponibili  a livello internazionale e perfino nel Dubai Mall!!

SS 15 Trend File. Back To The '70. Shop&Style It.

After last post about prints, patterns and colours of the '70 trend for the SS15 season, here's a quick and easy shopping and styling guide about it. In terms of shopping I've selected three high-street brands - ASOS, River island and H&M - so that you can either shop online or just pop instore and have a browse. Styling wise I have to say that the '70 is one of the easiest trends to style as the colour palette is quirky and fun and you are free to go over the top with it or keep it simple. my only advice is not to be afraid of colour and patterns and to try things on even if they look crazy on the hanger. The shapes, large and comfy,  are flattering on any bodyshape; the palazzo pants paired with wedges do elongate the figure and the culotte and swing dresses can be styled up or down according to your necessities. here's my picks. The items, from left to right are all ASOS, RI and H&M.

Dopo lo scorso post sulle stampe, le fantasie e i colori del trend anni '70 della prossima stagione SS15, ecco una semplice e veloce guida allo shopping e allo styling di questo trend. Per quanto riguarda lo shopping ho scelto tre brand high-street - ASOS, River Island e H&M - in modo che possiate fare shopping online o fare un salto in negozio per darci un'occhiata. Devo dire che ' lo styling di questo trend e semplicissimo poiche' la palette di colori e divertente e originale e siete libere sia di esagerare che di andarci leggere; il mio unico consiglio e' quello di non avere timore di provare colori e fantasie che sulla stampella sembrano da pazzi. Le silhouette infatti , larghe e comode, si addicono ad ogni conformazione fisica; i pantaloni a palazzo se abbinato con un  sandalo wedge allungano la figura e sia le culotte che gli abiti a linea ad A possono nascondono le imperfezioni e possono essere indossati per outfit casual o piu' formal a secondo delle vostre esigenze.Ecco le mie scelte. I capi, da sinistra a destra, sono di ASOS, RI e H&M.

SS15 Trend File - Back To The '70. Colours, Prints&Patterns.

'What goes around comes around'...ehm, yes that's the 2009 Justin Timberlake hit song but in this post I'll be talking about the '70 trend that not only is coming back for the SS15 season but it was also my first ever moodboard and fashion shoot I did back in 2011 when I was sill in Rome studying fashion styling.

In the past three weeks at work we had a drop of '70 items - palazzo pants, lacey top, bardot tops, '70 prints and crochet cover ups. Before I take you through what to buy, I found out that I already had three moodboards ready for the '70 styling - that is the work I did in 2011 with the addition of  three '70 iconic comic characters women; Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop and the Italian Eva Kant.

What you can take with you from the moodboards is a guide on key colours, prints and patterns that can guide you through your shopping around and styling the pieces you have picked once at home.

'A volte ritornano'...ehm, si e' il titolo di un film dell'orrore del 1981 ma in questo post mi riferisco al trend anni '70 che non solo torna per la stagione SS15 ma e' stato anche la mia ispirazione per il mio primo moodboard e fashion shoot nel 2011 a Roma quando ancora studiavo styling.

Da tre settimane a lavoro abbiamo  capi anni '70 in vendita - pantaloni palazzo, top in pizzo, top Bardot, stampe anni '70 e cover up all'uncinetto. Prima di darvi una panoramica su cosa acquistare, mi sono ricordato che avevo pronti tree moodbors sullo styling anni '70 - e' il lavoro fatto nel 2011 con l'aggiunta di tre personaggi iconici del periodo; Wonder Woman, Penelope Pitstop e Eva Kant.

I moodbaodr qui sono sono una guida sui colori, le stampe e le fantasie tipiche del periodo che vi daranno una mano nello shopping in negozio e poi nello styling una volta a casa.

Cinderella The Exhibition. London. The Costumes, The Pumpkin and The Glass Slipper.

I couldn't pass the opportunity to go and see up close the costumes of the live action version of Cinderella so I booked my free ticket few weeks ago and went today to Leicester Square to see them. In the big tent that they built there were also some props from the film, including parts of the pumpkin/gold carriage and pieces of furniture of the house. The stand out pieces though were the magnificent costumes created by Sandy Powell, who has already won three Oscars (Shakespeare in Love, The Aviator, The Young Victoria), in collaboration with Swarovski who supplied thousands of crystals. I'm not going to describe the exhibition at all as the pictures do speak for themselves.

Non potevo farmi sfuggire l'opportunita' di andare a vedere da vicino i costumi di scena del fim di Cenerenetola, quindi ho prenotato il bilglietto gratutito qualche settimana fa online e stamattina sono stato a Leicester Square a Londra a vederli. Nella grande tensostruttura al centro della piazza c'erano anche alcuni  oggetti di scena, tra cui la zucca/carrozza e parti dell'arredamento della casa. I pezzi forti comunque sono stati i meravigliosi abiti creati da Sandy Powell, vincitrice di tre oscar ( Shakespeare in Love, The Aviator e The Young Victoria), in collaborazione con Swarovski che ha messo a disposizione milgiaia di cristalli. Non mi dilungo in descrizioni ma lascio che siano le immagini a parlare.

Studio DModa FW15 Press Day. 12 Talents In Milan.

Chi segue questo blog sa molto bene che tempo seguo con ammirazione ed interesse il lavoro di alcuni designer di abbigliamento e accessori fin dalle loro prime collezioni ed in particolare quelli seguiti e fatti crescere dal team di Studio DModa, un gruppo di professionisti romani che selezionano, promuovono e fanno attivita' di PR per giovani brand italiani. 

Nell'ultima edizione di AltaRoma a gennaio ho assistito con piacere alle sfilate di Project149 e Quattromani che fanno parte della 'famiglia' DModa da tempo, che di stagione in stagione si allarga e  il 9 aprile a Milano in Via Solferino 48 terra' il suo primo press day non-romano (in bocca a l lupo ragazzi!) con ben 12 brand; abbigliamento donna passando per gli accessori - borse e scarpe - e l'offerta si completa con la gioielleria. Accanto a nomi conosciuti a questo blog - Giuliana Mancinelli Bonafaccia, Marco Grisolia, F2A, Trenta7, Flaminia Barosini e Federica Beradelli - ce ne saranno anche di nuovi che nel tempo vi presenteremo nel dettaglio - Chiara Baschieri, Luca Sciascia, Damiano Marini ed égotique.

People who regularly follows this blog knows very well that I've been reviewing with admiration and interest the collections of some clothing and accessories brand since their beginnings andparticularly those under the supervision of the Studio DModa team, a group of professionals that select, showcase and do Pr activity for young italian brands.

At the last edition of AltaRoma in January I had the pleasure to see Project149 and Quattromani fashion show, who have been bwith the DModa 'family' for a long time, that, season afetr season grows and now on April 9th in Via Solferino 48 in Milano will have its first non-Roman press day (good luck guys!) with 12 brands; from womenswear to accessories - bgas and shoes - to jewellery.

Cinderella Yourself. Cinderella Style For SS15.

Il blockbuster Cenerentola e' su migliaia e migliaia di schermi da ieri, in Italia e nel resto del mondo e la fiaba - versione Disney - oltre a raccontare l'evoluzione del personaggio, da umile e maltrattata sorellastra a principessa perfettina, illustra anche i diversi tipi di abbilgliamento che Cenerentola indossa a secondo del momento e dell'occasione in cui si trova. Ecco una versione 2015 di come essere una pricipessa da mattina a sera, indossando outfit da lavoro-ufficio e abiti da sera ed eleganti.

The blockbuster Cinderella film is on thousands and thousands of screens from yesterday worldwide and the fairytale - Disney version - not only tells the evolution of the main character , from humble and badly treated step-sister to perfect princes but it shows also the different styles that Cinderella wears in the different context and moment of the story.
