Pantone's Colour of the year 2012: Tangerine Tango. Shopping tips

Twenty days to the New Year and we finally know that Tangerine Tango is the colour of 2012.

Pantone it's the world leader comapny into forecasting and providing universal coding for colours and expect this hue of vibrant yet burnt ornage to pop up everywhere in the next twelve months.

Even in fashion, and it's good news, I believe, we'll see more colour going down the A/W'12 fashion shows in Febraury and thankfully Tangerine Tango won't be relegated only to summer sunset aperitivo outfits.

The Telegraph has already done a shopping list with Tangerine Tango items for this season ( here).

I have done the same ina smaller scale, picking things up on the H&M, Zara and Asos websites.

So far H&M seems to be the best one with supplying orangey items both for women and men whilst Zara and Asos have to keep up as the orange hues are not into Zara's menswear palette at all (!) and Asos had just few items available.

Venti giorni al nuovo anno e finalmente sappiamo che Tangerine Tango e' il colore del 2012.

Pantone e' l'azienda leader nel mondo nel predire e codificare i colori nel mondo del business e aspettiamoci di veder apparire questa sfumatura vibrante e bruciata di arancione dovunque nei prossimi dodici mesi.

Anche nella moda, ed e' una buona notizia, credo, vedremo molto colore in passerella nelle sfilate A/W'12 a febbraio e Tangerine Tango non sara' relegato solo ad outfit estivi da aperitivo.

Il Telegraph  ha compilato una shopping list con elementi Tangerine Tango per questa stagione (qui).

Io ho fatto la stessa cosa in piccolo, selezionando dai siti di H&M, Zara e Asos.

Per ora H&M ha la migliore scelta di capi arancioni sia da uomo che da donna mentre Zara ed Asos devono mettersi al passo, poiche' l'arancione non e' per nulla nella palette di colori da uomo di Zara (!) e Asos ne ha pochi disponibili.

Colour trend Fall 2011 by Pantone&Zara

I've been thinking about this post for a while, as the cold seasons don't have to mean always dark colours.

I picked up 6 hues from the Pantone Fall 2011 report and translated them into outfits from Zara.

Trends come in handy when we want some new ideas and imputs, particluraly with colours, as it is quite hard for everyone to try new colours.

Era da un po' di tempo che pensavo a questo post, poiche' le stagioni fredde non devono per forza significare colori scuri.

Ho scelto 3 sfumature dal report Panton Fall 2011 e li ho concretizzati in outfit di Zara.

I trend sono un valido aiuto quando si e' in cerca di nuove idee e stimoli, in particolare con i colori, poiche' e' abbastanza difficile per tutti distaccarsi da quelli che usiamo di solito.

BAMBOO

This hue of yellow with a green undertone can be tricky to pull off especially if you are afraid that it will make your complexion look ghostly and too washed out. 

However you can either wear it on your bottom part (trousers) or pair it with a muted colour cardigan.

Questa sfumatura di giallo con un sottotono verde puo' essere rischiosa da indossare se avete il timore che vi faccia apparire pallide e slavate.

Tuttavia lo potete indossare nella parte inferiore del vostro corpo ( cioe' come pantaloni) o abbinarlo con un cardigan che lo bilanci.

DEEP TEAL

Here it is another hue with a green under tone. Deep teal is a strong blue which suggests, according to pantone, 'the depth of the ocean and the colour of the sky as daylight descends into darkness'.

Ecco un'altra sfumatura con un sottotono verde. Deep teal ( color petrolio intenso?) e' un blu scuro che suggerisce, secondo Pantone, 'le profondita' dell'oceano e il colore della luce del cielo quando scende l'oscurita''.

COFFEE LIQUEUR

Coffee liqueur it's a great alternative to black. It is a fairly neutral colour but with a smart and warm quality to it.

Liquore di caffe' e' un'alternativa validissima al nero. E' un colore abbastanza neutro ma elegante e caldo allo stesso tempo.

Hope this post will push you to use a different palette this season!

ASOS - My Colour Clash Entry!

Who run the world (colours)! + OOTD-Red.

Aahahahahahahahaha!

This is my entry for a Vogue contest where readers where asked to style an outfit showing a seasonal trend.

I picked up colour block and stripes, of course, and created this school boy look.

Ahahahahahahahha!

Questa è la mia foto per un concorsino di Vogue ai cui i lettori veniva chiesto di creare un outfit che mostrasse un trend della stagione. Io ho scelto il colour block e le righe, ovvio, ed ho creato questo look da scolaretto.

Anyway, on the serious side. With the warmer weather there are being occasions to channel this colour/stripey look, even though I havent worn the coral shoprts already, but that means that I have time to pitch perfect the look and the accessories!

Yes! Just got 3 pair of solid colour and stripey socks! ;-))

Comunque, seri per un attimo. Con il clima che diventa piu' temperato ci sono piu' occasioni per indossare questo look colorato/rigato, anche se ancora non ho messo gli short color corallo, ma significa che ho tempo per rifinire il look e gli accessori!

Si! Ho appena acquistato 3 paia di calzini, tinta unita e a righe! ;-))

But..in the shop ( OVS) there where SO many stripey pairs to chose from! I was inclined to get them all but then, styling mode, and I got what I really needed and fit in with my looks.

Ma...in negozio ( OVS) ce n'erano COSI' tante paia a righe tra cui scegliere! Ero tentato di comprarle tutte ma poi, atteggiamento da stylist, e ho preso cio' di cui avevo bisogno e che andava bene per i miei look.

Un veloce Outfit del Giorno: un tocco di ROSSO!

Styling tip: choose a main focus ( the red tee here) and tight the look together with the same theme on accessories( belt and socks here).

Consiglio di styling: scegli il punto focale del look ( in questo caso la t-shirt rossa) e tieni insieme il look con lo stesso tema anche negli accessori ( la cinta e il calzino).

Come organizzare l'armadio. How to organise your wardrobe.

How's your wardobe? Is it fine? Very well? So, so?

I' m not gone crazy (?) and not even talking about the living Beauty and the Beast wardrobe but guessing how organised or tidy (!) your wardrobe is/should be. I
bet that many of you either have an obsessive, compulsive tendency to over organise your clothes and accessories or  the opposite..CHAOS!

There's no half way in a matter like that.

Since I started styling I changed my approach on how clothes do look, even on hangers and it takes just two steps to make your life easier.

Come sta il tuo armadio?Sta bene?Molto bene?Così,così?

Non sono diventato matto-già lo sono- e non sto nemmeno parlando dell'armadio vivente della Bella e la Bestia ma chiedendomi quanto è/dovrebbe essere orgaizzato e ordinato (!) il vostro armadio. Scommetto che molti di voi o hanno tendenze ossesivo/compulsive  all'iper-organizzazione di vestiti e accessori o...l'opposto...CAOS!!!

In questioni come queste non ci sono vie di mezzo.

Da quando ho cominciato ad occuparmi di styling ho cambiato anche l'approccio verso la maniera in cui i vestiti appaiono..anche sulle stampelle e bastano due fasi per rendervi la vita più facile.

Since I wrote this post I move to the Uk and the pics you are going to see refer to my wardrobe back in Rome. My wardrobe situation at the moment it's in progress here in Brighton - have a clothes rail.
The tips that follow, though, still apply :-)
P.s. The hanger with the fur at the fron of the rail is shooting material.

da quanto ho scritto il post mi sono trasferito in Inghilterra e le mmagini che vedrete si riferiscono alla mia situazione a Roma. Per ora invece, qui a Brighton e' work in progress - ho un appendiabiti da negozio.

TIP 1:

It is quite a simple fact that if you do have all your clothes tidily laid out and hanged, you do help your eye to wonder and pick and mix.

TIP 2:

Your styling creativity will get a boost if your garments are organised in ...BLOCKS OF COLOUR!

 I know, I know, colour block is all over the place this season but it is an evergreen trick when it comes to wardobe organisation. So just divide them from lighter to darker hues ( white towards black!).

CONSIGLIO 1:

E'un fatto molto elementare quello che, se hai i vestiti ordinatamente disposti ed appesi, aiuti l'occhio a scorrerci sopra e a scegliere e mixare.

CONSIGLIO 2:

La vostra creatività stilistica avrà un'impennata se gli indumenti sono organizzati per...BLOCCHI di COLORE!

Lo so, lo so, il colour block è dappertutto questa stagione ma è un trucco sempreverde quando si tratta di organizzare l'armadio. quindi divideteli dalle tinte più chiare a quelle più scure ( dal bianco al nero).

H&M colour block and stripes: styling tips!!

Hi there!

After weeks and weeks of seeing, writing and thinking about colourful and stripey summer looks, finally I had the chance - yep, it was just chance - to get some pieces that follow that trend but...in my own way!

I was killing time in a shopping mall, waiting for a prop shop to open and get some stuff for an upcoming shooting, and just got this solid, coral/orangey shorts and  blu curacao striped tee by H&M.

Didn't really want to be either color blocked or zebra styled, so I opted for this fun and chilled look.

N.B. Got boys sizes. Scandinavian kids must be very tall!!

Dopo aver visto, scritto e pensato a look colorati e rigati per settimane e settimane, finalmente mi è capitato - si proprio per caso - di acquistare alcuni indumenti che seguono questo trend ma...a modo mio!

Stavvo ammazzando del tempo in un centro commerciale, aspettando che un negozio di oggettistica aprisse e prendere delle cose che mi servono per un prossimo shooting, e ho trovato questo paio di short tinta unita corallo/arancioni e una maglietta a righe blu curacao. Tutto di H&M.

Non volevo essere un blocco di colori nè zebrato colorato, quindi ho deciso per questo mix, ed un look divertente e rilassato.

N.B. Ho preso delle misure da bambino. I ragazzini svedesi devono essere proprio grandi!!

STYLING TIPS:

The t-shirt

On paper horizontal stripes don't really flatter any figure or silhouette but, as styling it's about getting the proporrtions right, Icounterbalanced the bulky horizontal stripes with ...colour! White background and light blue stripes do give to the top part and airie, light look and  feel.

CONSIGLI DI STILE:

La maglietta

In teoria le righe orizzontali non donano a nessuna corporatura e silhouette ma, poichè fare styling significa azzeccare le proprorzioni, ho controbilanciato le spesse righe orizzontali con... il colore! Sfondo bianco e righe chiare danno alla parte superiore dell'outfit un aspetto arioso e leggero.

The shorts

The solid shorts instead grab the eye and work as a focal point to the look. As far as the feeling of it, the coral/orange hue hints to the pleasantness of summer sunset and aperitives by the sea!

Gli short

Gli short a tinta unita attirano l'occhio e sono il punto focale dell'outfit. per quanto rigurda la sensazione che comunicano, il color corallo/arancione rimanda alla piacevolezza dei tramonti estivi e degli aperitivi in riva al mare!
