Autumn preview for the boys.

I know, I know...summer is at its peak (in Italy with 'Ferragosto' and here in the UK as well lately.) and it's really out of sync to talk about FW12 fashion. As well as despising to be told what to wear, I can't wait though to get back to put on comfy knits, scarves and gloves...of my choice.
I really, really like the almost endless possibilities of layering that the cold season offers. Plus there 's a fashion related good news coming up in September (fingers crossed!).
I've already set my eyes on the following FW12 high street items and overall looks: knits and outerwear by River Island and H&M.

Rain, Uniforms and Lana Del Rey Look alikes at LFW AW12 .

Being London, you wouldn't be surprised by a rainy day. But rainy it was not infact, yesterday.
Being Burberry, you would expect rain on the catwalk. But there wasn't rain on the catwalk infact.

As Cara Delevigne closed the show and disappeared backstage, the music faded, sound of a storm and thunders and the audience tought that rain was going to come down IN the tent.
Then it started raining OUTSIDE the huge transparent tent in Hyde Park and the models did their final walkthrough with the Burberry umbrellas while squares of tin foil came down the tent.

The Burberry Prorsum Collection went from life-in the-countryside looks to military-femminine looks and it's the twin sister of the Burberry for man seen in Milan, similar trenchcoats and wood animals (owls, puppies, birdes and foxes on jumpers).

The military look but with a sharper edge was in the Topshop Unique shoow too.
Military outerwear balanced by shorts and high/ankle boots.

And then Lana Del Rey! Not the real one, she was at Mulberry, and her bag too but the models hair at Michael Van Der Ham show made me think, in a split second, about her.
The collection, infact was ispied by the Hollywood glamour of the '30, and the party dress and the separates conjured up the image of a cinema diva on and off duty.

London Fashion Week AW12 ...So Far So Good!

It's 'only' day 3 of LFW AW12 and the collections are good, fun and creative. London never disappoints.
I was quite disappointed though with the ones in New York because the designers played it very safe, wasy too safe and produce good collections, quite good commercially but lacking in creative unput and innovation.
To my eyes only Marc Jacobs stood out with a collection that played with silhouettes, fabrics and layers.

What is going on in London insted it's really good, a great mixture of new designs and ideas well balanced with the commercial side of it. Plus I already see some of the looks going from the runways straight into the magazine editorials and setting trend on the strees as well.

  • Zoomed-in/ coloured hounds tooth.
  • Mix and match and clash of prints.
  • Jumpsuits in parsley and '70 style prints.
  • Silk scarf-like prints.
  • Chinced waists and fur accessories.

Milan Fashion Week FW12 - Moschino . Comment and Favourite Looks

The (known) secret of an excellent fashion show it's the first look that appears on the runway and that conveys the mood and the concept of the collection.
Moschino nailed it with a mustard brick printed suit finished off with a bowler hat and umbrella: a clear reference to the old dear England of the '60 and '70.
After that several look inspired by music, from the rockabilly of the Teddy Boys to punk rock of Sex Pistols and the iconic 'Clockwise Orange' look, plus graffiti printed suits - homeahe to street art - and others in shabby-chic style, smart but falsely scruffy and dirty.
Is this collection an anticipation of what we will see at London Fashion week in Febraury where, for the first time, Moschino is showing with its diffusion line Cheap and Chic? Really hoping to be there and be able to update you with a first hand report.
