Trends and Shopping S/S'14. Flower-ama! For Her and For Him

'Fiori? Per la Primavera? Rivoluzionario!' Ora, pronti, shopping, FLOWER-AMA!
--------------------
'Florals? For Spring? Goundbreaking.' How can we not agree with Mirlanda Pristley, but groundbreaking or not, the fat is that prints and floral patterns are coming (Peter Pilotto x Target anyone?), bit by bit into stores and soon, not only we'll be buying item with a botanicamood, but also, I hope soon, we'll wear them. if you're not sure of this look, I suggest you buy at first one or two low cost garments, so that you can get used to them, if you're uncertain, or ride the trend if you like it. I selected few items from Boohoo.com, a British online shopping website. It ships to Europe too and to avoid any delivery charges if you wish to return what you bought, my advice is to check the Size Guide, and, if needed, measure yourself, tape in hand, to be as sure as possible that you pick the right size. Now, ready, shop, FLOWER-AMA!

How NOT to look good - Large Floral Prints -Fashion Trends SS12

Do you want look 'larger-than-life' sporting one the SS12 trends? Try the big floral prints trend then. Here some looks and styling tips on how NOT to look goot in it.

- THE BASICS.
Large prints in general have the quality of enhancing, zooming in and making a surface look bigger. This effect is even more true with geometric patterns and prints that are not abstract; in which case even if the print is large you may get away with it if the colours are dark - you all know the slimming effect of balck, right? So look out for large flower prints to get the right enlarging effect.

- GET THE RIGHT SILHOUETTE.
Once the large print is found, you need to have either a flowy, loose dress to look even bigger and shapeless- see the picture above - or make sure that one of the large printed flower shape is just by the waistline so to look likeyou have none - see the picture below.

- FROM HIGH-STREET TO RUNWAY.
The large print trend is everywhere, from the highstreet - the dress above is from  Mango- to runway designers -the two dress below are Diane Von Furstenberg.

If you're feeling ispired and artistic you can even wear Van Gogh's style sunflowers dresses.

SS12 Trends. Florals and Styling Tips

A quick posr where I break down the garments that I selected for the SS12 Floral video that I posted yesterday on Youtube and that you can watch below. I'm obviously not suggesting that you wear floral prints from head to toe , even thoug that's an option to consider :-)
The garments that I selected are  from the high street and shoppable online on purpouse.

Mesdames, Messieurs: Haute Couture!!

Soon after the curtain had closed over the prêt-à-porter shows, Paris gave us the wonder of wonders: Haute Couture F/W 2010/2011. And we, humble fashion followers, could only rub our eyes in seeing so much beauty on display, thanks to Their Highnesses such as Lagerfeld, Valentino, Armani and above all Galliano for Dior.

Just few words to give you an overview of the show and then the pictures will speak for themselves.

Location: a room of Musèe Rodin. Scenography: stems, leaves and petals tower over a total white background that some journalists described as Galliano's' little shop of horrors (!). To my eyes instead, it looked like a scene from Alice in Wonderland with those singing, merry flowers that she meets following the White Rabbit.

FLOWER POWER, IN FULL EFFECT!

And Galliano too conjures up wonders and makes us dream with wide volumes on the waist and neck line, bright colours, gaudy combinations and refined tailoring.

I do agree with Franca Sozzani then, in saying, well...screaming: " COUTURE? YES!"

In fact, thanks to Haute Couture, not only can we, ordinary fashion addicts, dream and be inspired, but above all research can carry on as well - into fabrics, prints, new shapes, colours and styles - and into tailoring skills and creativity that give 'sap' ( just to remain with botanics) to prêt-à-porter .
