Roma, Nun Fa' la Stupida Stasera. Chanel is Coming!

Rome, Don't Be a Fool Tonight.
The day is almost here! On December 1st Chanel will stage its Métiers d'Art show at the Cinecitta' studios in Rome. As a proud Roman I'm really happy that once again, after the magnificent Valentino's Haute Couture show in July, the city is back on the fashion map and that the Chanel guests and the entire (online)  world will be able to appreciate its beauty, at the same level of Seoul and New York, where the Cruise 2016 collection and the last Métiers d'Art show were held.

Rome, Don't Be a Fool Tonight.
I really hope that the city and the Roman people will give their best and that the luxury experience of this event will carry on outside the show venue too; in the streets, in the restaurants and bars, in the hotels or simply having a 'cappuccino e cornetto' for breakfast in one of the thousand excellent coffee bars in town.

Rome, Don't Be a Fool Tonight.
Last but not least, it'll be interesting to see Karl Lagerfeld take on the city historical, cultural and cinematografic heritage and how he'll translate that into the collection. Rome, do your best to cast your spell on the Chanel guests and make them fall in love with you.

Roma, Nun Fa' la Stupida Stasera.
Ci siamo quasi!

------------------
As you know I have a love/hate relationship with Vogue: it all depends on which edition I pick, basically. Often I get disappointed in British Vogue, sometimes not ; but when I put my hands on Vogue Paris or Vogue Spain then I go into raptures ( I always love Italian Vogue!). For 2014, as I'm fed up with wasting money for a Vogue ( the British one) that I don't like, I've got a subscription to it as a Christmas present, so I do stay informed (and disappointed) but at least I'm not spending money on it. Ha!
March Issue! Surprise!  As I opened it Vogue worked its magic and left me speechless with  the very first pages in which there were the Prada and Chanel S/S 14 campaigns. I know, they're not editorial content b ( let's not comment on that) but I'm really grateful alla the same to be able to see these picture on paper rather than online and , I swear, the difference is abysmal!

Chanel_Little Black Jacket_London

I finally managed yesterday to 'stretch' to London and one of my fashion stops was at the Saatchi Gallery to see the Little Black Jacket exhibition by Chanel that is touring around the world, just like a music star. Pictures taken by Karl I-can-do-everything, styled by Carine Roitfeld that impersonates (in a truly impressive way) Coco Chanel. The couple created really stumming portraits with the iconic black jacket, making it even more iconic and at the same time modern and contemporary. Let's see how.
First of all the choice of 'subjects' is really interesting: not only poeple that revolve around the fashion system, know worldwide, but also new faces and many men!
We do all know (even if by the back) Anna Wintour, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jane Birkin below

The Little Black Jacket renew itself if worn by young actresses. In my selection you can see Elisabeth Olsen, Kirsten Dunst and Dakota Fanning. In fact the main idea of this Chanel project is to make the brand know by the new generations and show ( even if there's no need) that this item is one of the masterpieces of fashion history. But surpises don't stop here.

Moltissime immagini infatti vedono uomini (modelli, artisti e designer) indossarlo.

The Little Balck Jacket is so versatile and timeless that, not only it goes beyond the generations, but also beyond gender! Lots of portraits of men wearing it (models, artists and designers).

Finally there are also portraits of Carine Roitfeld's son and daughter and one of Virginie Viard, Chanel Studio Director.

I leave you with the following quote from the end of the exhibition:

It does really apply to the Little Balck Jacket!

Fashionable Halloween_Karl Lagarfeld

After the Anna Wintour Halloween fancy dress post here the other one. I left you with a clue about him: Karl Lagarfeld! Here what you need to have in order to look like him :-)

3) A white shirt with a high collar (possibly)/Una camicia bianca con colletto alto (possibilmente)

 H&M/Vivienne Westwood

4) A slim black tie/Una cravatta nera slim
5) A white wig with a ponytail/Una parrucca bianca con coda di cavallo

H&M/Amazon

My advice to have a fancy dress that doesn't look too fake and that's of good quality is to mix real clothing and fancy dress pieces you can buy cheaply on Amazon. You still have a couple of weeks to get ready and do your Halloween shopping.

Jackie Kennedy and the 'fake' Chanel suit.

Just a quick detail/curiosity that I'm reporting after haveing read the news both on Styleite and Fashionista.
It's about the pink Chanel suit that Jackied Kennedy wore on November 22 1963, the day of her husband assassination.
From the interview by Tim Blanks to Carine Roitfeld and Karl Lagarfeld emerges that  suit was a 'fake' or, as Lagarfeld explained, a line-by-line copy of it.
That means that the fabric, trims and button were original Chanel, from Paris, but shipped to New York, cut and fitted there because Jackie wanted to avoid anymore bad press for her spending habits, and have a suit made in America.
Fashionista.com question the definition of 'fake', because all the pieces to make the garments were original but in my opinion in this case, as Lagarfeld says, the suit cannot be labelled as Chanel as it lacks the made in Paris touch to it that makes it 100% original.
