The picture above - look #21- from the latest Marc Jacobs fashion show, had many people say : 'What the heck it's going on??', even among the fashion insiders, used to watch show after show after show.
Most of the time, to the untrained eye, the outifts shown on the runways appear weird, absurd and unwerable.
So here a quick, personal, guide, on how to watch a fashion show and what to look out for.
L'immagine qui sopra - look #21- , presa dall'ultima sfilata di Marc Jacobs, ha visto un sacco di gente esclamare: 'Ma che diavolo e'??', anche tra gli addetti ai lavori, abituati a vedere show, dopo show, dopo show. La maggior parte delle volte, ad un occhio non allenato, le proposte delle passerelle appaiono strane, assurde e immettibili.
Ecco una guida veloce e personale, su come guardare una sfilata.
1) Remember that you're watching a fashion SHOW! It's a..show that has to grab your attention; the outfits have to be memorable and not forgotten among hundreds of them during fashion week. Therefore what you are seeing it's NOT most of times what you should wear, or the designer wants you to wear from head to toe. The styling of the outfits, if not maximised, it's there anyway, to convey the theme and the ispiration of the collection. So try to focus on the singular pieces after a quick overall look and you'll see that there are sensible and werable pieces there!
Look at the difference between an outfit on the runway and the same from the lookbook.
In the lookbook you can clearly see that the pieces are wearable.
1) Ricordati che stai guardando un fashion...SHOW! Uno spettacolo, dunque, che deve catturare la tua attenzione; gli abiti devono rimanere memorabili e non dimenticati tra le centinaia di proposte durante la settimana della moda. Quindi quello che vedete in passerella NON e' cio' che dovreste indossare, o che lo stilista vorrebbe farvi indossare, da capo a piedi. Lo styling degli abiti, infatti, se non massimo, e' comunque presente, per trasmettere il tema e l'ispirazione della collezione.
Prova quindi a concentrarti sui singoli capi dopo aver dato un'occhiata a tutto il look e vedrai che ci sono dei pezzi mettibili.
Guarda la differenza tra un capo in passerella e nel catalogo.
Nel catalogo si vede chiramanete che e' indossabile.
2) Focus on the cut, silhouette, fabrics, colour palette and spot trends!
You may not like a singular piece or look but you may like the way a dress is cut, the silhouette on the body, the fabric of the combination of colours or a print .
You can use that knowledge when you'll be shopping few months later.
Try with the two pictures below and I'm sure you'll find AT LEAST a feature you like.
2) Concentrati sul taglio, la silhouette, i tessuti, la gamma di colori proposti e individua i trend!
Potrebbe non piacerti il singolo capo o il look ma ti potrebbe colpire il modo in cui un vestito e' tagliato, la silhouette che disegna sul corpo, il tessuto, la combinazione di colori o la stampa.
Puoi usare questi spunti quando poi farai shopping qualche mese dopo.

3) Last but not least: check the accessories - bags, shoes and sunglasses!
They are not very easy to spot immediately but they are usually the easy-to-go and easy to-copy items that you'll find even at Zara and H&M six months later when shopping for the new season.
3) Ultimo ma non ultimo: guarda gli accessori - borse, scarpe e occhiali da sole!
Non sono facili da vedere immediatamente ma di solito sono gli elementi piu' meno impegantivi e piu' facili da copiare che troverai da Zara ed H&M sei mesi dopo quando farai shopping per la nuova stagione.
