#NDM: Kate Moss x Topshop: Success Or Not?

A week ago the collaboration Kate Moss x Topshop finally hit the stores and was available online, both here in the UK and worldwide. A success or not? Hard to tell, as in these kind of collaboration (celebrity/designer+fast fashion), the commercial success is not a priority. In my opinion - it took me a while to realise that - is all about marketing and PR: generate publicity for the brand and rise the 'brand awareness'. Only as a second aim there's the need to get any profit.
Let's then say that the partnership Kate Moss+Topshop is a well oiled PR machined that is generating lots of press and is incrementing the football in stores and the website traffic.
The collection is not really cheap - the cheapest item is a black cami for £38 and the most expensive is a fringed maxi dress at £350.
Quite few items are sold out online at the moment, but this cannot be taken as a sign of success as we don't know how many option of ecah item had benn produced. It's quite obvious that if I produce 100 options instead of 1000, I'll sell out 10 times faster.
Let's wait and see if we'll find the Kate Moss x Topshop items in the summers sales racks.

KM3D-1 AltaRomaAltaModa 9July 2011

In one of the most classical, elegant, historycal and cool (also for the air con) Roman moneuments, Adrian's Temple, the AltaRoma fashion crowd had the opportunity to experience the 3D short film/fashion project, starring Kate Moss, and created by AnOther Magazine with the artist/filmaker Baillie Walsh.

Went there by myself but soon met Romina Toscano and we experienced the film together. Waiting outside the black box where the 3D installation is placed, we were quite frighten by screams and loud noises that came from the soundtrack, just like an horror film. So we went in and watched the film arm in arm dreading for the moment of the screams. ;-) It was all fine though, as you will see form the video below.
I uploaded both a version from AnOther Magazine site and the video I did, placing the 3D glasses in form of the camera ;-)
